A to Z Guide

Academics

Please honor and respect the core mission of the University - teaching, research, and service - by not disrupting academic activities that are in progress on an event day.

Access

All guest may enter on the concourse/food court level of the facility. Each entrance is wheelchair-accessible.

Alcohol

Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted to be brought into the arena. Alcohol brought into the arena will be confiscated and the person with alcohol will be asked to leave. Guests appearing to be intoxicated will be subject to ejection and turned over to police.

The Charlotte 49ers will be instituting in a pilot program that will allow the sale of alcohol on game days at Halton Arena during the 2019-2021 season. Fan behavior and alcohol-related incidents will be closely monitored to ensure that the overall fan experience is not diminished due to excessive drinking.

Accessible Seating for Disabled Patrons

Accessible seating with an unobstructed view is available throughout Halton Arena, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. To request accessible seating for ticketed events, please contact the 49ers Ticket Office at 704-687-4949 in advance.  For patron needs on an event day, please ask any event staff personnel for assistance. Each person must possess a reserved ticket for each seat location. Tickets for ADA locations can be purchased in advance. Those with needs on game day may exchange their ticket for accessible seating at the Halton Arena Box Office. Low vision seating is available upon request.

Animals

Animals are not permitted in the facility, with the exception of trained service animals.

Assistive Listening Devices

For hearing impaired patrons, assistive listening devices are available at Guest Services located on the food court or by request with Venue Management staff.

ATM Locations

There is a Fifth Third Bank ATM on the concourse behind section 116. Other campus ATM locations.

Baby Changing Stations

Located in the restrooms on the food court.

Bag-Check Policy

All persons and bags are subject to search at the door.

Banners / Flags / Signs

Handheld banners/signs are approved as long as they represent good sportsmanship and do not block the view of others. Flags are approved; however, flag poles are not allowed and flags cannot block the view of others. Banners must not bear the logo or other identification of any company which is a business conflict with event partners. All banners, flags, or signs must be flame retardant material and may not be affixed to or draped over any part of the arena.

Bottle Filling Station

Bottle filling stations are available on the concourse level in each of the corners of the arena.

Cameras

Still cameras with lenses less than four inches are allowed. Flash photography and stand/tripods are prohibited. Video cameras may be prohibited at some events. All photography/video must be from a guest's seat location at all times. 

Cellular Phones and Pagers

The use of cellular phones and pagers is permitted, provided they do not interfere with another patron's ability to enjoy the game.

Children / Infant Admission Policy

Everyone two (2) years of age and older must have a valid ticket to gain entry to Halton Arena. Admission for youth under the age of two is free of charge. Children under the age of two who are admitted for free must sit on their parent's lap.

Closed Captioning

This service is available by request no later than two weeks prior to the event requested. To request, please contact Halton Arena by emailing sac-info@uncc.edu or calling 704-687-1100. A University representative will follow-up with confirmation.

Concessions

Chartwells, a division of the Compass Group, is the concessionaire for events at Halton Arena. Point of sale locations are found on the concourse level of the facility. Concession carts will also be available throughout the concourse level for certain events.

Emergency and Evacuation Plan

In the event of a serious emergency evacuation, information and instructions will be provided over the public address system and on the scoreboard. Event staff will be available to guide patrons.

Fan / Guest Behavior

UNC Charlotte strives to provide an enjoyable experience for each guest at hosted events while providing an exciting atmosphere. All members of our event staff are committed to proactively supporting an environment where patrons and their families, friends, and/or clients can enjoy their experience free from any of the following:

  • Obscene or abusive language and/or behavior
  • Offensive clothing
  • Fighting, taunting, or threatening remarks and/or gestures
  • Intoxication or signs of impairment related to alcohol or drugs
  • Irresponsible behavior
  • Any distraction to the progress of the event
  • Obstructing the flow of patron traffic in aisles, walkways, or on the concourse
  • Throwing objects of any kind
  • Occupying any seat or ticketed area without the appropriate ticket
  • Other actions that cause a disruption and/or hinder enjoyment of the event for other guests

To report a disruptive individual, please notify a uniformed officer or event staff member. Individuals found to be violating these standards may be asked to leave the premises and/or be subject to criminal sanctions. Students may also be subject to the sanctions of the University's Code of Conduct.

Feedback

Fans are encouraged to e-mail any feedback regarding the event day experience (questions, complaints, concerns, etc.) at Halton Arena to sac-info@uncc.edu.

First Aid

A first aid station will be available on the concourse level of the facility. Notify the nearest event staff member to assist, if necessary.

49er Club

The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation provides scholarship assistance for nearly 300 male and female student athletes in 17 varsity sports. Established in 1969, the Foundation has developed into a vitally important support group, pursuing excellence, integrity, and pride in the University's athletic program. Guest Services

Guests may find assistance at Guest Services located on the food court during certain events or by asking an event staff member. In case of an emergency, notify an uniformed officer or event staff member.

Lost Children

Parental Identification wristbands may be obtained at Guest Services upon arriving at Halton Arena. If a child is lost from parents/guardians, either party should contact the nearest uniformed officer or event staff member. That individual will notify the proper personnel to implement the necessary procedures.

Lost and Found

All lost and found items are to be turned in to Guest Services. After an event day, please call 704-687-1100 for assistance.

Media

Contact Media Relations at 704-687-1022 in advance of an  49ers athletic game day for credential and access requirements. Media credential pick up and arena access will be available at the loading dock on game day. For all other events, contact our main office at 704-687-1100.

Merchandise

Barnes and Noble is the 49ers merchandise provider for games at Halton Arena Merchandise may be purchased at the stand located on the main concourse level. Check out the Charlotte49ers.com store for purchases before the game!

Niner Nation

As a fan of the Charlotte 49ers/UNC Charlotte, you are a member of folks who wear green and proudly cheer on the 49ers known as Niner Nation.

Norm the Niner

Entertaining fans of young and old at 49ers events and in the community, Norm the Niner is the fun loving mascot of the 49ers best known for his in game antics.

Parking and Traffic Flow

The West Deck is main parking location for events in Halton Arena. The Cone Deck and/or Union Deck are utilized as overflow areas for certain events as well.

Prohibited Items

The following items may not be brought into Halton Arena:

  • Alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs
  • Artificial noise makers (i.e. cowbells, horns, whistles, drums, megaphones, etc.)
  • Cameras with 4" lenses or larger
  • Fireworks, firearms, explosives, mace, pepper spray or other weapons
  • Glass or aluminum bottles
  • Items that can be thrown such as balls or frisbees
  • Laser lights and pointers
  • Outside food and beverages
  • Pets (service animals permitted in accordance with ADA)
  • Use of tobacco products or e-cigs
  • Video cameras and tripods
  • Any item deemed inappropriate by event staff

Radios

Personal radios with headphones/earbuds are permitted inside of Halton Arena, provided they do not interfere with another patron's ability to enjoy the event.

Recycling and Trash

Please assist in maintaining the beauty of Halton Arena by disposing your trash and recyclables into the appropriate bins located throughout the concourse and parking areas.

Re-Entry Policy

There is no re-entry into Halton Arena for ticketed events. Once a person leaves the facility, he or she will not be permitted to re-enter the facility without a new, unused ticket.

Restrooms

Restroom facilities are located on the concourse level of Halton Arena. Family restrooms are located next to the restrooms on the food court.

Smoking Policy

Smoking, including use of electronic cigarettes, is not permitted in the arena or within 100 feet of the facility and only in designated areas on campus.

Solicitation

Solicitation within Halton Arena, without the express written consent of UNC Charlotte or its agents, is strictly prohibited. This is including, but not limited to:

  • Distribution of leaflets or other printed material
  • Distribution of products or performing services, whether for consideration or free
  • Taking surveys or otherwise interfering with the free movement of guests

Violators are subject to prosecution.

Sportsmanship

The Charlotte 49ers promote good sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches, and spectators. We request fan cooperation by supporting the participants and officials in a positive manner. Profanity, racial or sexist comments, or other intimidating actions directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches, team representatives or other fans is prohibited.

Strollers

Strollers are prohibited in seating areas of the arena. However, strollers may be checked at Guest Services. Infant carriers/seats are permitted only if the guest has an additional ticket for the carrier. Guest services and the Student Activity Center and Venue Management are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.  

Student Tickets

UNC Charlotte student tickets are FREE to 49ers athletic events.  Students MUST utilize the online ticketing process for football and men's basketball tickets. Simply click the Athletic Tickets link under the Student Life section of your my.charlotte.edu page. You will be redirected to a separate website where you will be automatically logged into your Student Ticketing account. Student 49er Club

As the official UNC Charlotte student support group of Charlotte 49ers Athletics, the Student 49er Club strives to provide an outlet for school spirit for students by offering an excitement-oriented organization that is committed to supporting and promoting 49ers athletics. Tailgating

Tailgating is permitted based on the UNC Charlotte tailgating policy.

Ticket Information (Buy Tickets)

The Halton Arena Ticket Office is open Monday - Friday  8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and during certain events. To contact the 49ers Athletic Ticket Office in advance of game day call 704-687-4949. For more Athletic ticket information, visit Ticket Central.

Non athletic event tickets may be purchased in person at the box office and at TicketReturn.

The following payment methods are accepted: cash, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.  

Tobacco Products

Tobacco products are not permitted in Halton Arena.
